Cognitive Solutions Learning Center is offering group programs for students in Kindergarten-12th grade. Groups will meet twice weekly for a six week period,and are broken down as follows:

Kindergarten Group:
We are offering your child a chance to get a jump on school by teaching them how to read using a program called Power Readers. Power Readers is composed of short books which include stories, repeated characters, sight words, and pre and post reading activities. The curriculum is designed to enhance your child’s knowledge of one-syllable short vowel words and two-syllable words. Perfect for the emerging reader, this program will help your child gain confidence in his/her basic reading skills.
Primary Grades (1-3):
Through the use of a structured reading program called Sound Partners, children who are struggling with early reading skills will learn some valuable tools and strengthen their basic reading skills. Sound Partners develops knowledge of initial sounds, phoneme segmentation, nonsense words, and letter naming fluency. Students in this class will improve reading skills, apply their new techniques to unfamiliar words, and build fluency.
Elementary Grades (4th -5th graders):
REWARDS Intermediate is a program designed to help children who have basic reading skills become more fluent with grade level material. The program will teach your child how to breakdown multisyllabic words, and build their comprehension by offering short passages with questions designed to develop meta-comprehension skills. The REWARDS program helps your child learn new vocabulary, build their reading speed, decode difficult words, and boost their comprehension skills.
Middle School-High School (6th-12th Graders):
Through the use of a program called REWARDS Secondary,students will learn new vocabulary, build their reading speed, decode difficult words, and boost their comprehension skills.

Executive functioning classes
Cognitive Solutions Learning Center, Inc. has created a program that promotes the development of organizational skills for students in grades K-8. The program will provide each student with many of the tools and strategies necessary to help the child take a more systematic and organized approach to their learning experience.
Learning organizational strategies and practicing consistent routines can help students achieve great success both in school and in their personal lives. The earlier students adopt and implement strategies, the easier problem solving is for them.
Areas of instruction include:
Setting up and teaching long-term use of an individualized folder system
Locker/backpack organization strategies
Color coding systems for organizing notes and materials
Creating concept maps and linear outlines using an interactive writing program
Direct instruction on the use of daily planners/assignment notebooks, including time management, longitudinal project breakdown, and exam/test preparation scheduling.
Test preparation strategies for all subjects and content area
Reading strategies to improve comprehension and retention of material
